Gideon draws his film editing from past life experiences in the art, animation, photographic and music worlds.

Since leaving the National Film & Television School, with a rare double distinction, Gideon’s work has broadcast across the world both on prime international television networks (BBC, HBO, ESPN, SHOWTIME, PBS, ABC, DISCOVERY, AMAZON, APPLE & NETFLIX) and on theatrical release. Most of these films have received prestigious  international awards, including entry onto the 2016 OSCAR shortlist and wins at SUNDANCE and an EMMY.

Gideon has instinctively delivered highly original cinematic narratives known for their distinct empathy and often witty and humane style. He is drawn to both complex and soulful tacit characters and narratives.

Although he prefers working with fiction and documentary feature film, he also enjoys cutting commercials, film-trailers and collaboration with artists, allowing him to experiment and push the editing medium with sound, image and music.

He is hugely committed to each project, with a keen interest to be involved in every step that a producer would allow; embracing early script proofing, links to archival sound and image, supervising grading and graphic effects, providing eclectic temp music, detailed sound design and working closely with composers and the sound designer through to the dub.

Gideon has also enjoyed working as a consultant on a number of films, providing detailed notes, edits, restructuring and reinvention of short and feature length films. He has recently supported BA and MA film students with mentoring and master-classes through these difficult times.

He works very quickly with humor, imagination and invention.
